Another quick Blog post today to let you know that on the road to Antwerp to attend the Crisis 2017 wargames show, I got to record the second second "TooFatLardies Oddcast" with my good chums, Richard Clarke and Nick Skinner.
You can find a link to the podcast HERE.
The sound quality isn't perfect, as we were driving through Belgium at the time, occasionally swerving and braking to avoid a variety of other road users and confusing Belgian road-signs.
The subject we talk through in detail is battlefield walking - which battlefields to choose, what to prepare in advance, whether to visit alone or in a group, books and maps to read up on the battlefield, how to record your visit, and how to translate the findings from your visit into wargames rules and tabletop scenarios.
We go through an extended "What's in the Workshop", and talk through several book reviews. The books we reviewed were a selection from the First World War and Second World War, all with a Flanders theme:
Hope you enjoy the podcast!
Top stuff Sid!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Geoff!
DeleteWho would have thought I would be sitting down listening to a podcast of a group of wargamers on their road trip. Well I did and it was bloody fantastic entertainment.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the equivalent of Top Gear in the wargaming world and you Sidney, I guess will have to be hamster.
Thanks so much, Pat! No guessing who our Jeremy Clarkson is..... hmmm, now let me think... ;)
DeleteKeep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks William. Don't worry, there's more to come!
DeleteGood stuff . The Peter Barton book is personal favourite of mine!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic book, isn't it? Peter Barton's "Beneath Flanders Fields" is an even better book, in my view - and another for a book review some day soon!
DeleteOne for 5he Xmas list!
DeleteA very interesting podcast - thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym!
DeleteGood to see one of Uncle Julian's books listed.
ReplyDeleteAshley, wow... I had no idea. It was Rich's choice, and he is deeply impressed by it (and he's a harsh critic). Thanks so much for dropping by (and hope to see you at 'Dragonmeet' again this year).
DeleteI agree with you. That is a very valid point you bring up. Thank you for sharing this very informative and well explained post with us.
